Gotham Greens, per a press release, has announced theopening of its second greenhouse in Colorado. The new facility is located inthe Western Industrial Park in Windsor, Colorado and features 140,000 squarefeet of growing space.

The company’s first greenhouse in Colorado is located in Auroa, Colorado andopened in 2020.

“Water is life in Colorado and throughout the Western United States.Unfortunately, without new technologies like Gotham Greens is deploying,Colorado won’t have enough water to sustain the next generation of agriculturejobs or the industry that is a crucial part of the state’s economy,” saidColorado Governor Jared Polis in the announcement. “Gotham Greens is aninnovative leader in a new era of agriculture that is working to ensure a moresustainable future for Coloradans. With this second greenhouse in the RockyMountain Region, the company is making it possible for more Coloradans to eathealthy, fresh, locally grown food, while also conserving the preciousresources we need to protect the home we love.”

By using hydroponicgrowing systems in high-tech greenhouses, Gotham Greens’ farms use up to 95%less water and 97% less land compared to conventional farming and provide aconsistent and proven way of growing food closer to where people live,year-round regardless of the season, altitude, and climate.”

“As a native Coloradan, this new greenhouse represents a significantmilestone in our company’s national expansion and for the agricultural futureof the state,” said Eric Haley, Co-Founder and CFO of Gotham Greens. “Naturalresource conservation is essential to ensure that the Colorado I call homeremains both beautiful and fertile for generations to come. Using proven indoorfarming technology, we’re able to transform land that otherwise would beunusable for agricultural purposes into a high-tech, state-of-the-artgreenhouse that produces approximately 30 times more leafy greens per acre ofland than conventional open-field farming.”

The new greenhouse is one of three that Gotham will launch in 2023. They saythe new facility is five-times larger than the original facility and willincrease their supply of product in the region by the same time.
